After choosing to run an agressive tire set-up for the feature, Sam finshed 7th after starting 8th on July 17. Sam found the car to be very fast, but the tire set-up didn't seem to fit his driving style.

"I've always been taught to drive smoothly through go-karts. In go-karts, if I turned the wheel too much, I would mostly likely spin, but now with this tire set-up in the sprint car I have to be very agressive with the wheel. This concept is completely different than what I've been taught. I just don't think 20 laps was enough time for me to adapt completely to this tire," Sam said after the race.

Crew chief Mike Christie also added in saying, "I'm positive that Sam could adapt to this tire easily, but for now the tire set-up does not fit his driving style. We'll keep working at it because the car was fast tonight."
