Last
weekend, Sam suffered a disappointing 11th due to motor problems, despite
the car being very
fast earlier on in the day. "I was actually
surprised with an 11th. The car was so slow that the 9th place car was
a straightaway ahead of me before the checkered flag," said Sam after
the race. "I'm just happy we were able to stay in the race with a
faulty motor. An 11th place shouldn't hurt us too bad in points." Sam
fell from 5th to 7th in points and is now 36 points out of first. "We're
way ahead of schedule," states crew chief Michael Christie, "I
had no idea that Sam would be able to run with the top guns at this racetrack." Sam
will miss next week's race due to a school play he is in. "That's
what is so upsetting about this race. The car was capable of so much
more and now I'll have to wait 2 weeks to redeem myself." |
